Lisp

Lisp is the BEST programming language!

I use it because its the most powerful language out there. Lisp offers the fundamentals for writing powerful programs, which can only be emulated in other languages (see external DSLs, hot-swap extensions, plug-in APIs, codegen utilities, monkey patching, python/shell project scripts, etc.)

In the 1950/60s, Lisp released with:

• Dynamic memory allocation
• Garbage collection
• Pass by reference
• An expression-based syntax
• First-class functions
• Recursion
• Condition expressions
• Incremental compilation
• Interactive programming
• Dynamic typing
• Syntax extension

Yet somehow we're still trying to emulate what of this list isn't now standard 70 years later (see the above list).

Clojure is my language of choice. It brings this power to the JVM, JavaScript, and Python, the 3 largest platforms in the world, as well as .NET, C++, Dart, etc.
