Speed Doesn't Matter

When talking about Pinchord, and steno as well to a lesser extent, I think the speed benefits of a chorded system like this compared to a serial keyboard layout are not all that important.

For me, the benefit related to speed with Pinchord is really how you can expend less effort to type at the same speed.

Speed is always something you can train for, it's always a number you can keep increasing. You can get fast on slow systems, but the only way to improve comfort is to use a more comfortable layout.

The speed ceiling is also something to consider, and I don't find it to be particularly important either. My goal is designing Pinchord was to make a system that would allow you to reach practically fast speeds in as quickly as possible. There is probably a point on the speed curve where it would take you less time to get to a certain speed with a full steno system than with Pinchord, but hobbyists have little need to reach these speeds, and they mostly don't.
