Setting up Pinchord on Javelin
Instructions for manually building Pinchord for Javelin.
Note that Pinchord is in Pre-release, meaning that it not stable yet! It is ready for full time use for those interested, so you can still try it out if you'd like :)
Pre-built firmware images may exist for your board. If you're fine with the defaults, see that list :)
Instructions
If you use Javelin, back up your User Dictionary and Layout from the Web Tools before flashing Pinchord
- Heed the warning that Pinchord is in pre-release
- Clone pinchord.git (
git clone https://grahp.dev/pinchord.git) (or download the zip file if the clone doesn't work for whatever reason, see Setting up Pinchord) - head to https://lim.au/#/software/javelin-steno
- Check "Show Expert Options"
- Upload the system under the "System" section, "System File:", hit the "Select" Button (
pinchord-javelin-system-vx.x.yaml) - Uncheck the default "Jeff's Numbers dictionary" (none of the dictionaries in the Javelin list work with Pinchord)
- Upload the dictionary (
pinchord-javelin-dictionary-vx.x.yaml) from "Add Orthospelling YAML" in the Dictionaries section - If you're adding other dictionaries (such as Pinchord punctuation), add those dictionaries with the "Add JSON / RTF Dictionary" button - make sure that they're above "Pinchord Base" in the Dictionary List, otherwise the dictionary will be shadowed
- Upload the layout under the "Key Map" section with the "Load Layout" button (
pinchord-javelin-layout-vx.x.javelin-layout) - Hit "Create Firmware"
- Follow the flashing instructions :)
